Over the past few weeks, people have been going crazy over the news that the H1N1 flu virus (which you may also know as the swine flu virus) is spreading across the globe. Once people started to realize that swine flu was killing people throughout Mexico, they started to get much more worried about the potential implications of this virus spreading. Although it is true that the H1N1 virus has continued its spread across the world, it is not causing the same level of fatalities that it initially did in Mexico. I brought this issue up because it is hard for me to figure out why people continue to be extremely worried about swine flu when it is proving to be much less serious than initially believed. While I find it strange that there is still such a high level of worry about swine flu, a lot of nations are still taking steps to try and lessen the fears of their citizens.
Although I think it is safe to assume that people are going to continue to worry about swine flu for the foreseeable future, I’m not letting it get in the way of my summer plans. Towards the beginning of this year, I planned a summer trip to Cardiff with my friend, and we have been excited about spending a week in Cardiff ever since we booked our reservations. After spending time tracking down great deals on my flight, hotel room and Cardiff airport car rental, there’s no way I am giving those up and canceling my trip to Cardiff. Fortunately, since there is still some time until my trip starts, I’m hoping people will have calmed down about swine flu and moved on to the next thing that the media is making a big deal out of!
