If you are considering visiting Cardiff but are not keen on the idea of being in a city all of the time, then it is worth knowing that the city does have a lot of parkland where you can stroll and get away from it all. The city itself has all of the attractions that you would expect from any big city, it has theatres, museums, art galleries and of course shops. There is a port and a brand new waterfront development which is worth a look at, especially if you appreciate the design of new buildings. There is also the castle which will show you something of Cardiff’s interesting past.

One of the most important things about the city is the people. They are said to be very optimistic and they are certainly welcoming. Sometimes cities can seem all in a rush with no time to even talk to tourists but Cardiff is more welcoming and friendly which really adds to the appeal of the place.

If you do want to explore the whole of the city centre as well as the parkland area and the docks then you will need to get about a bit. Unless you adore walking and are prepared to wear out some significant shoe leather then you will need to consider getting some transport to help you around. The most flexible option is to hire a car and then you can go and see whatever you like, when you like without being restricted by routes or timetables.

If you are looking for a descent and reasonably priced place to eat while in Cardiff then you should try Kemi’s Cafe Bar. Located on Lloyd George Avenue, the cuisine at Kemi’s is considered British although the menu includes all kinds of interesting salads and other dishes.

The restaurant is open from 9:00 until 4:30 Monday through Saturday and on Sunday from 9:30 to 4:30. Items on the lunch menu are very reasonably priced ranging from 2 pounds up to 6.50 pounds per item. Salads and sandwiches are the main fare at this restaurant. You can get what’s called a salad feast which includes a half baguette for 6 pounds. If you are taking out, a salad pot plus half baguette is 4 pounds.

Sandwiches can be served either in raps, pita bread or baguettes. Fillings are divided into vegetarian, meat or fish. Vegetarian fillings include such options as dry and roasted peppers; feta and olives or goats cheese and caramelized onions. Humous and falafel wrap is another favorite which costs 4.25 pounds.

If you’d like a sandwich with a meat filling you can order chicken with pesto and pine nuts; Thai chicken; ham and pickle or lamb and mint. If you’d like a sandwich with a fish filling you can choose from tuna, onion and sweetcorn; Mexican tuna and kidney beans with hot chili or smoked salmon and cream cheese.

The service at Kemi’s Cafe Bar is very good and the staff are friendly. The glass enclosed restaurant gives a light airy feeling and a nice atmosphere for having a bite to eat.
