For travelers who are visiting the city of Cardiff from out of town, and not bringing along their own vehicle, there are basically three modes of transport to choose from: rentals cars, buses, and taxis. My personal favorite whenever I am traveling for business or pleasure is to hire a car so I can drive myself around, so I would go with a Cardiff airport car rental as soon as I got off the plane. But you can make up your own mind on that after hearing about the other options.
Most people are familiar with using taxis when they are traveling, but the taxi service in Cardiff differs from what a lot of people including myself are used to seeing. As an example, while it is still possible to hail a taxi right off the street it is much more common to hire one in advance to make sure that you’re not left waiting on the side of the road for too long. For that reason I would rather just get a car rental from Cardiff airport and skip the taxis altogether, because if you have to hire a taxi in advance you may as well just get your own vehicle in advance.
The third option is to travel by bus. Of course this is the cheapest option, but also the least convenient and involves more waiting around and making sure you’re actually on the right bus, so I would only consider this for myself if my budget was running low.
